Project Scope
Rise Urban was engaged directly by the City of Karratha to peer review and assess the City’s own development application to construct a $65M mixed use apartment development at the entrance to the Karratha City centre. The proposal included 82 apartments over two four and seven storey buildings, as well as a range of office and community purpose tenancies on the ground floor.

Project Challenges
Given the City of Karratha was both the applicant and the decision maker, Rise Urban was required to undertake an independent and arms-length appraisal of the proposal against the R-Codes Volume 2 and applicable local policies, and to provide a fair and balanced recommendation back to the City as the decision maker. Despite being a complex proposal with strict deadlines, Rise Urban was able to complete a full and thorough assessment and negotiate some reasonable design improvements, resulting in a robust and transparent approval for the City of Karratha.
